Exclusive Inside Story of Rory McIlroy's Masters Champions Dinner Revealed
Sir Nick Faldo has delivered his exclusive verdict on Rory McIlroy's Masters Champions Dinner, with Jordan Spieth and Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley also sharing their glowing assessments of the prestigious event. The three-time Masters winner attended the exclusive gathering on Tuesday evening, where golf's elite celebrated McIlroy's long-awaited Masters victory from twelve months prior.
Historic Moment with Ben Hogan's Driver
Faldo revealed a particularly memorable moment during the dinner when a driver belonging to the legendary Ben Hogan was passed around among the esteemed guests. The nine-time major champion's club was presented to the room by two-time Masters winner Ben Crenshaw, who served as the de facto master of ceremonies for the evening. Under the iconic oak tree in front of the Augusta National clubhouse, Faldo described the experience as "Fab" and praised the food as "all brilliant."
In a video posted to his Instagram account, Sir Nick elaborated further: "I know you want to all know about champion's dinner last night, it was very nice, food was great. It was a really cool moment when Rory, Jack and Gary were siphoned off for a photograph secretly, you know they're the only Grand Slam winners here, so that's a very cool moment for Rory. He spoke well, of course, that was all good."
World-Class Menu Receives Rave Reviews
McIlroy's menu featured an exceptional selection from the Augusta National cellar, highlighted by fine wines that complemented the culinary offerings. Guests enjoyed tuna carpaccio, wagyu fillet mignon, and sticky toffee pudding among the fare. The 2015 champion Jordan Spieth was particularly effusive in his praise, stating: "The food was incredible. It's one of the best dinners that we've had on the meal. His choices were fantastic. And there were some great stories told."
Spieth continued: "Obviously, he completed the slam and won the Masters, which had been something that had been held over his head by others and probably himself for a long time, and you obviously saw what it meant to him last year. And then gets to come back and enjoy the perks of what that means when you come back as the defending champion." When asked about his favorite item, Spieth singled out the steak: "The Wagyu filet, I mean, it was very good."
Augusta Chairman Praises McIlroy's Hosting
Augusta National and Masters chairman Fred Ridley, who was also in attendance, offered his official assessment of the evening. He stated: "Rory was a wonderful host at last night's Masters Club Dinner. That evening always is a special occasion, but especially when we celebrate a first-time champion. I should say that, like his golf game, Rory's menu and wine selection were world-class."
The Champions Dinner represents one of golf's most exclusive traditions, where only past Masters winners gather in the Augusta National clubhouse. McIlroy's hosting marked his first time presiding over the event following his emotional victory in 2025, which completed his career Grand Slam. The evening not only celebrated his achievement but also reinforced the camaraderie and history that defines the Masters tournament.
