Teddy Sheringham has urged Manchester United to recall Rasmus Hojlund from his loan at Napoli, arguing the striker deserves another chance at Old Trafford.
The Denmark international joined the Serie A side in the summer, with a buy option that becomes obligatory if Napoli qualify for next season's Champions League. Hojlund has scored 10 goals in all competitions, including one in Wednesday's defeat to Chelsea.
Sheringham, a former United striker, said things can change quickly at football clubs, particularly when there are different people in charge. He suggested that Michael Carrick's relationship with Hojlund could be a factor, and that the club should bring him back and assess his mindset.
Gianfranco Zola recently said Hojlund is "driving everyone crazy", adding that United let go of a striker like that after Scott McTominay's departure, which he attributed to Erik ten Hag's decisions.
Napoli remain fourth in Serie A, a point above Juventus, after being eliminated from the Champions League this week. Hojlund will hope to continue his form when Napoli host Fiorentina this weekend.
