Former Fulham defender and Morocco international Abdeslam Ouaddou has spoken of his family's miraculous escape after a runaway lorry smashed through the wall of their home in a terrifying incident.
The shocking crash occurred when the large goods vehicle careered off the road and ploughed into the property, causing significant structural damage and leaving the family shaken but thankfully unharmed.
Ouaddou, who made 17 appearances for the Cottagers during his Premier League career, was at home with his wife and children when the lorry struck. The vehicle reportedly tore through the building's exterior, bringing debris crashing down and creating a scene of chaos.
Emergency services, including police and paramedics, rushed to the scene following the accident. Remarkably, despite the extensive damage to the property, Ouaddou and his family emerged without physical injuries though undoubtedly traumatised by the ordeal.
The 45-year-old footballer, who also had spells with Valenciennes and Nancy in France before retiring in 2012, took to social media to confirm the incident and thank well-wishers for their support.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to the lorry leaving the road and colliding with the property. The incident has raised questions about road safety in the area and the potential dangers faced by residents living near major routes.
Ouaddou's former clubs and teammates have expressed their relief that the family escaped serious harm, with many sending messages of support to the popular defender known for his commanding presence on the pitch during his playing days.
