David Moyes' side opened the campaign with a 2-0 home win over Crystal Palace and signed off before the break with a 1-0 victory against Ipswich Town. In between, they drew 1-1 with Bournemouth, 2-2 with Manchester United and 0-0 with Tottenham Hotspur.
