Everton fans urge sale and Moyes changes after Arsenal loss

Everton fans have renewed calls for the club's owners to sell up and for manager David Moyes to make bold changes after a 2-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. The loss was Everton's second consecutive 2-0 defeat, following a similar scoreline against Chelsea a week earlier.

Goals in either half from Ezri Konsa and Gabriel Magalhaes secured all three points for Arsenal. Everton's next fixtures are a Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle United, followed by another meeting with the same opponents on Monday night.

Fans voice frustration over squad and tactics

Paul McParlan, a member of the Everton jury, described the defeat as a predictable outcome, noting that the club has only won once at the Emirates in the Premier League era. He highlighted the absence of Jarrad Branthwaite and Jack Grealish, saying the squad is severely depleted and cannot cope with the loss of key players. He also pointed out that two substitute goalkeepers were named on the bench to make up the numbers.

McParlan criticised the defending for Arsenal's first goal after seven minutes, which he described as comical, and the second goal on 68 minutes, where Vitalii Mykolenko allowed Ben White to cross for Gabriel to head home unmarked. He added that the Blues have conceded two goals in three consecutive games, and that the defensive resilience of last season has evaporated.

Calls for bold selection changes

James Kellett noted that the defeat marked back-to-back losses for the first time this season. He said Moyes has been accused of 'playing it safe' and that his reluctance to shake things up could cost him his job. Kellett argued that the manager has not been helped by his squad, but urged him to show ruthlessness in his selections and use the options on the bench, citing the debate over Tyler Dibling and Brennan Johnson.

Mark McParlan described the trip to Arsenal as a waste of time and money, criticising the team for playing for damage limitation. He also referenced Fleetwood Town knocking Arsenal out of the League Cup on Tuesday night as a damning indictment of Everton's performance. He suggested shaking up the midfield, with James Garner potentially moving to right-back and Hayden Hackney coming into the middle.

Ownership and upcoming cup tie

McParlan added that the situation is happening under what he called 'zombie ownership' and urged the owners to sell up quickly, saying the club will drift rudderless in the meantime. He noted that Everton have won only 2 of their last 15 Premier League matches.

The League Cup tie against Newcastle United on Thursday is described by Paul McParlan as a pivotal point in the season, a match the club cannot afford to lose. He said winning would put the team three matches from the final, while defeat would leave nothing to look forward to but another winter of discontent.
