Christian Eriksen will have particular reason to tune in when Manchester United host Brentford on Monday evening, having played for both clubs. The Danish midfielder, who left United last summer, has criticised former manager Ruben Amorim's public comments about the squad.
Speaking to the Sunday Times in December, Eriksen said Amorim's remark branding the team the 'worst in the club's history' did not help the players. 'Some stuff you can say inside and it's not too clever to say outside, to put extra pressure and put an extra label on the players who were already trying to do their best,' he said.
Eriksen also commented on Amorim's coaching approach, noting he tried to change the system and was 'very, very honest' with him from the start. However, he acknowledged that the players were not used to the style Amorim wanted to implement.
Amorim departed United in early January, with Michael Carrick taking over on an interim basis. Since then, United have won eight of 12 matches, rising to third in the Premier League and virtually securing Champions League qualification.
Eriksen, who now plays for Wolfsburg in Germany, has become a regular starter and recently captained the side. He spent six months at Brentford in 2022 before joining United, where he made 107 appearances over three seasons.
