England secured their seventh consecutive victory in World Cup qualifying Group K with a 2-0 win over Serbia at Wembley, confirming their place at next summer's finals. Bukayo Saka opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a trademark volley, while substitute Eberechi Eze added a second in stoppage time to cap a counterattack involving Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden.
Thomas Tuchel's side had already guaranteed top spot in the group with two matches to spare, and this performance, while not entirely convincing, extended their perfect record. The manager made a notable selection call by naming recalled midfielder Jude Bellingham on the bench, keeping Morgan Rogers in the number 10 role after his impressive displays in previous qualifiers.
The match started slowly, with the subdued Wembley atmosphere reflecting the lack of jeopardy. Saka's goal came from a Declan Rice free-kick, after Serbia goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic failed to clear under pressure. The Arsenal winger adjusted his feet and curled a left-footed volley into the far corner, breaking the torpor.
Tuchel introduced Bellingham, Foden and Eze in a quadruple substitution on 65 minutes. The winning goal arrived in stoppage time when Bellingham played through Foden, who found Eze to fire a first-time curler past Rajkovic. Serbia, under new manager Veljko Paunovic, saw their slim play-off hopes ended by the defeat.
England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford extended his record of consecutive clean sheets to ten, with the defence rarely troubled. The final qualifier is against Albania in Tirana on Sunday.
