Liverpool could be without eight players for Tuesday evening's Champions League clash against Villarreal as they look to maintain their 100% start to the competition. The Reds have already learned who will be available for the match against a side they have progressed against in their two previous European meetings.
New Absences for Liverpool
Liverpool have two new absences, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong both forced off during the Premier League win at Brentford on Saturday. Szoboszlai has aggravated a previous hamstring problem and is likely to miss several games, while Frimpong is not expected back until after the November international break having suffered a muscle issue.
There is also concern over Victor Munoz, who missed training on Monday after picking up a knock on Saturday. At the time, he was able to continue and went on to score the equaliser.
Long-Term Injuries and Ineligible Players
Three other Liverpool players will definitely miss the game as they continue to recover from long-term injury. Forward Hugo Ekitike faces a battle to feature again this calendar year after suffering a serious Achilles injury in early April, while right-back Conor Bradley continues to recover from the major knee damage he sustained at Arsenal in early January.
Centre-back Giovanni Leoni is edging nearer a return to first-team training after being missing since last September with an ACL injury, but is not expected back until during the November international break. Wataru Endo and Federico Chiesa are both ineligible, having not been included in Liverpool's Champions League squad for the league stage.
