Dundee set to sign Alfie Harrison to ease injury crisis

Injury-hit Dundee are set to sign Alfie Harrison to help ease their current crisis. The former Newcastle United youngster has impressed while on trial with the Dark Blues. The attacking midfielder played in a closed door game with Hearts last week.

Short-term deal expected

The 20-year-old has continued to train with Dundee and is set to be handed a short-term deal by Steven Pressley. It is expected Harrison will pen a deal until January to allow him to find his feet and to get back playing.

The creative player came through the ranks at Manchester City before he moved to St James Park in 2024. Harrison was a regular for the Magpies under-21 teams and was also involved in a number of glamour friendlies, but never managed to make his first-team debut. He left Newcastle United in the summer to pursue his career.

Mounting injury list

Dundee have a growing injury crisis. Head coach Pressley expects to be without eight first-team regulars for Saturday’s trip to Falkirk. Strikers Bobby Wales and Joe Westley are the latest to be added to the list. The pair both have suffered ankle injuries.

Wales hurt himself netting for Scotland’s under-21s in Bulgaria and Westley rolled his ankle in training. Captain Simon Murray, Jack Moorhouse and Fin Robertson have all suffered ACL injuries that will keep them out for the season. Charlie Reilly and Ryan Finnigan are also still not fit while Zan Basir is suspended for their Premiership return.
