Dundee beat Aberdeen 2-0 in Premiership opener

Dundee claimed a convincing 2-0 victory over Aberdeen at Dens Park, with goals from Joe Westley and Joe Bevan securing their first Premiership win of the season. The hosts dominated the match and could have won by a larger margin.

Goals and dominance

Westley opened the scoring in the ninth minute, volleying in a cross from Bevan. Bevan then sealed the win in the 56th minute, firing low past Marius Muller after a deep cross from Charlie Reilly.

This victory marked Dundee's third consecutive win against Aberdeen, their best run against their North-east rivals. Steven Pressley's side had lost their opener to Celtic but bounced back impressively.

Aberdeen's struggles

Aberdeen, who had come into the match on a five-game winning streak, suffered their first defeat of the season. They were second best throughout, with few chances created. Boos rang out from the away sections as they trailed at half-time.

Stephen Robinson's men will have a chance for redemption next week when Dundee travel to Pittodrie in the Premier Sports Cup.
