Novak Djokovic reacted angrily to a cameraman during his third-round French Open match against Joao Fonseca on Friday. The Serb had just won the second set to lead 6-4 6-4 when he confronted the camera operator.
As he approached his chair, Djokovic said: "Please can you come more into my face? For God's sake, make some space." The incident led to the cameraman being removed from Court Philippe Chatrier, according to TNT Sports commentator Nick Millins.
Millins said: "Cedric Mourier, one of the assistant referees, just came out to make the point to the courtside cameraman that 'you can get close but you can only get that close'. That cameraman has now been substituted."
Djokovic is chasing a record 25th Grand Slam singles title. His hopes have been boosted by the shock exit of world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, who blew a two-set lead against Juan Manuel Cerundolo on Thursday.
The 39-year-old is the only remaining Grand Slam winner in the draw. Victory would make him the oldest man to win a major in the Open era. Djokovic said he believes he has "a very good chance" to compete for glory in Paris.
