Former Manchester United forward Dion Dublin has warned Liverpool that his old club are 'due' a significant victory that could transform their season when the two rivals meet at Anfield on Sunday. The BBC pundit, who played for United in the early 1990s, believes the match is a pivotal moment for Ruben Amorim's side.
Manchester United travel to Merseyside on the back of three consecutive defeats and sit 10th in the Premier League without an away win this season. However, Dublin noted that United have drawn their last two league visits to Anfield since a 7-0 humiliation in March 2023, suggesting signs of resilience.
'This is one of two or three games in the season which just level out,' Dublin said. 'They are due to have a very potent, winning game. Liverpool watch out - it is going to be a close one.' He added that while Liverpool boast world-class talent, United could spring a surprise if they find their rhythm.
Dublin, also a presenter on 'Homes Under The Hammer', backed Liverpool to defend the title but acknowledged a tight race involving Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea. He emphasised that United must target a top-four finish as a minimum, calling European football 'a good season' given their current position.
A win at Anfield, Dublin argued, would foster harmony in the dressing room and provide a stepping stone for the team to build momentum. 'Beating Liverpool for Man United has got to be the stepping stone,' he said.
