Mikel Arteta has insisted that the half-time altercation between Declan Rice and Arsenal assistant manager Albert Stuivenberg is 'all sorted'. The incident occurred during Arsenal's 3-2 Carabao Cup win over Chelsea on Wednesday night.
Television cameras captured Rice engaging in a heated exchange with Stuivenberg as the players prepared to return to the pitch. Rice was seen shaking his head and shouting 'just go' before Gabriel Magalhaes stepped in to calm the situation. The England midfielder then appeared to say, 'he doesn't know what the hell he is on about'.
However, after being substituted in the 82nd minute, Rice made a point of hugging Stuivenberg on the touchline. Speaking at his press conference on Friday, Arteta confirmed the matter had been resolved, adding that it demonstrated the players' and staff's desire to win.
Arteta also agreed with Thomas Tuchel's assertion that England players will need strong 'social skills' to make the World Cup squad. 'There are players that maybe in terms of minutes, they don't have that much impact, but the impact that they have in and around the team... is critical,' Arteta said.
