Darts superstar Luke Littler has marked a major personal milestone by passing his driving test and immediately rewarding himself with a brand new BMW.
The 18-year-old sports sensation, already a millionaire and world champion, successfully passed his practical test on the first attempt, though he revealed the journey to get there required seven attempts at the theory test.
From the Oche to the Open Road
Speaking ahead of the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace, Littler explained that he wasn't overly nervous during his practical assessment. He credited his familiarity with the local area for his calm demeanour.
"I wouldn't say it was nerve-wracking cause there was only a few routes around Warrington, so I kinda knew what route I was going on," Littler said. "My driving instructor took me on a particular route and come my test, it was the same route, so it was very easy."
His first car is a brand new BMW 1 Series, a fitting purchase for the young athlete at the top of his game.
Life in the Spotlight and Future Ambitions
The darts prodigy, nicknamed 'The Nuke', also reflected on how his life has been transformed by fame since his explosive debut at the World Darts Championship.
"Oh, it's changed massively, not for just myself, but for my family, but it's changed for good reasons," he admitted. "At the start it was tough with all the media attention, but as the years have gone on, I'm getting used to it."
Littler expressed pride in the surge of interest in darts, confidently attributing it to his own influence. "There's more people getting into it, and yeah, it's all down to me," he stated.
In a lighter moment, the world number one revealed that if he were a spectator at the upcoming tournament, he would dress up as the Nintendo character Mario or his brother, Luigi.
When it comes to his dominant form on the darts stage, Littler claims to feel little pressure. "I wouldn't say there's really any nerves, I just enjoy it," he told Sky Sports. "I love producing my best darts, I love walking on, seeing the fans and there's no need to put any pressure on yourself."
In a warning to his rivals, Littler confessed he doesn't practice much but believes he could get even better if he applied himself more. "If I put the practice in, I probably could get better. But at the minute I'm happy with how I'm doing," he said confidently.
At just 18, Luke Littler's trophy cabinet already includes the World Championships, the UK Open, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, Grand Slam of Darts and the Players Championship.
