Findlay Curtis hopes for Rangers silverware and new contract
Curtis eyes cup glory and new Rangers deal

Findlay Curtis is keeping his focus on the pitch rather than contract negotiations as Rangers prepare for the Premier Sports Cup final against Hibernian on December 13 at Hampden. The 20-year-old winger confirmed talks over a new deal are ongoing, but he is content to leave those discussions to his agent while he concentrates on helping the Ibrox side end a three-year trophy drought.

Cup Final Hopes and Contract Talks

Speaking ahead of the final, Curtis admitted he would love an early Christmas gift in the shape of a winner's medal. A victory over Hibs would be a major step forward for both Derek McInnes' squad and Curtis himself, who spent the first half of last season on loan at Kilmarnock before returning to Rangers.

"Listen, I'll leave that with my agent and the football club," he said when asked about a new contract. "Obviously, it's a brilliant place to play football. I've been here since I was six years old, so we'll see what happens. But I'm loving it here. With the new staff as well, you can feel that everyone wants the success that the fans and all the boys in here want."

Curtis is currently behind Badredine Bouanani, Minsu Kim and Djeidi Gassama in the pecking order at Ibrox, but he remains hopeful of involvement in the final. Rangers last lifted the trophy in 2023 under Philippe Clement, and Curtis believes the squad can repeat that success.

Patience and Competition for Places

McInnes acknowledges it is difficult to ask Curtis to be patient after his productive loan spell at Rugby Park, where he scored six goals for Neil McCann's team. Since returning, Curtis has made 17 appearances but only four have been starts.

"It's natural as a footballer to be disappointed when you don't play," Curtis said. "Obviously you've seen that with myself, I played the first couple of games this season and I've dropped to the bench, but all I can do is just keep on working away behind the scenes and I can't miss any opportunity. I need to do it to 100 percent."

The winger faces stiff competition from Minsu, Bouanani, Gassama and Daisuki for a starting berth, but he is determined to make an impact whenever called upon. "All the boys in my position are doing really well and the team is winning. That's the main thing at the club," he added.

League Ambitions

Rangers travel to St Mirren on Saturday evening, the scene of Curtis' only league goal for the club so far. That late equaliser rescued a point for Russell Martin's side three games into last season, but the current campaign has brought brighter prospects, with McInnes' team looking to close the gap on leaders Celtic.

"Yeah, it's huge," Curtis admitted. "All we want to do here is pick up three points, whether the performance is not great. You need to get three points in this club, no matter what, if it's home or away."
