Bradley Walsh was reduced to tears on Thursday's This Morning as presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield spoke to families separated from loved ones in care homes during the pandemic.
The Chase presenter wept as he watched a video package featuring a mother named Ruth, who broke down while describing how she could no longer visit her son Sam, who has Huntington's disease. Before the pandemic, Ruth had visited Sam every day for three hours over a period of seven months.
Struggling to contain his emotions, Bradley apologised as he said: "It's hard enough to see your parents go, but if your child is going to go before you, something needs to be done, it's so upsetting."
Phillip Schofield was also visibly moved, choking back tears as the camera returned to the studio. Holly Willoughby was similarly emotional during the segment.
The piece highlighted that it is not only elderly people who have been cut off from their families during the pandemic, but also disabled people in care, with many families only able to visit through a screen or window.
Viewers were also deeply saddened, with one tweeting: "That video broke my f**king heart #ThisMorning." Another wrote: "Heartbreaking poor family's something needs too be done carehomes have been forgotten and its not ok any body dieing on there own."
