Clyde trailed to a Ronan Hughes strike after 25 minutes at New Douglas Park, but responded emphatically before half-time. Lewis Gillie's own goal levelled matters in the 31st minute, Lewis Lovering put the hosts ahead in the 42nd and Nathan Cannon sealed the win two minutes into first-half stoppage time.
The result gives Clyde a winning start in League Two, having missed out on promotion in last season's play-off final. Manager Darren Young praised the character shown by his team and the backing from supporters.
Young hails reaction to going behind
"It is a great start after great backing from the fans, who came out in their numbers. Three points, three goals and we are very happy," Young told the club media.
"In the first 15 to 20 minutes I didn't think we had too many opportunities against us but it was definitely nowhere near our own standards."
"It took us going behind for us to kick-start. After that we started to get our foot on the ball, make more passes and then we go and score three good goals with three good bits of play."
"There goal is a short back-pass that should be cleared. We've given them an advantage and something to hold onto but something we have seen with this squad is that the reaction of going behind is good. They don't bury their heads in the sand, everyone takes responsibility."
"There is a real strength and togetherness and that showed after we went behind."
Second-half chances
After the break, Logan Dunachie, Scott Williamson and Nathan Cannon all had chances to extend Clyde's lead. Young admitted he wanted more goals, saying: "Definitely. Going in 3-1 up at half-time probably flattered us, let's be honest, and then at the end of the game 3-1 probably flattered them."
"The legs and energy from the boys was great and, as the game went on, we got stronger. We had good options on the bench and today we had five guys out."
"So we have a really strong squad, we have recruited well and everyone played their part. The guys who came in have taken their opportunity."
Setting the standard
"Pre-season was a bit all over the place, we improved a bit in the League Cup section and we have started well with a good performance [in the league]."
"We won't get ahead of ourselves, but we've now set the standard for the season."
