Rangers manager Philippe Clement has broken his silence regarding the appointment process that saw his son join the club's backroom staff, insisting there is "no issue" with the decision made by director of football Ross Thelwell.
The Belgian tactician addressed the growing speculation surrounding the club's recruitment strategy during a press conference at Ibrox, where he provided candid insights into the busy summer that has seen significant changes behind the scenes.
Transparent Process Defended
Clement was emphatic in his defence of the appointment process, stating that Thelwell had followed proper procedures throughout. "There is no issue with Ross giving my son a job here," Clement asserted. "The process was transparent and based entirely on merit and what benefits Rangers Football Club."
The manager revealed that the club had been exceptionally active in their recruitment drive, bringing in several new faces to strengthen various departments. "It has been a very busy appointment process across different areas of the club," Clement explained. "We're building something special here, and that requires bringing in the right people at every level."
Focus on Club Development
Despite the external noise surrounding his son's appointment, Clement remains focused on the bigger picture of Rangers' development. The former Monaco manager emphasised that every decision made is with the club's best interests at heart.
"My only concern is what happens on that pitch and in this building that helps Rangers succeed," Clement stated. "Every appointment we make, whether it's in the coaching staff, medical team, or analysis department, is about making us stronger."
Looking Ahead
With the new season approaching, Clement appears unfazed by the scrutiny and remains confident in the structure being built at Ibrox. The manager's straightforward approach to addressing the situation has been welcomed by many supporters who appreciate transparency from the club's hierarchy.
As Rangers continue their preparations for the upcoming campaign, Clement's leadership will be crucial in navigating both on-field challenges and off-field discussions about the club's direction and internal appointments.
