The incident, captured on camera, showed the fan sprinting across the pitch before reaching the corner, where a Chicago Fire player helped her escape. The player lifted her over the advertising board and back into the stands, drawing applause from spectators.
Fans both in the stadium and watching from home praised the youngster's antics. One social media user commented: 'Some truly world-class pitch invading by this young Chicago Fire fan'. The disruption was brief, and play resumed shortly afterwards at SeatGeek Stadium.
