Enzo Fernández’s late winner completed a historic comeback for Chelsea, who came from two goals down to beat West Ham 3-2 at Stamford Bridge. The victory moved Chelsea up to fourth in the Premier League, while West Ham remain five points from safety.
West Ham dominated the first half, taking a 2-0 lead through goals from Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville. Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior made a triple substitution at half-time, which proved decisive. Two of those substitutes combined as Wesley Fofana crossed for João Pedro to pull one back, before Marc Cucurella equalised with a diving header.
João Pedro then set up Enzo Fernández’s late winner, sparking wild celebrations. In added time, West Ham’s Jean-Clair Todibo was sent off for grabbing João Pedro by the neck in a violent manner after a melee involving Adama Traoré.
Cucurella praised Chelsea’s “mentality and desire” after the match, while João Pedro said, “We have a strong squad… the team is very young but everyone trusts each other – that is our power.” The comeback was Chelsea’s first after being two goals down at half-time in a Premier League match.
