Chelsea put on a masterclass at the King Power Stadium, thrashing Leicester City 8-0 in the Barclays Women's Super League. Guro Reiten was the star, scoring one goal and assisting four, as the Blues maintained their lead at the top of the table. The win leaves Leicester rooted to the bottom without a win in eight games.
Reiten opened the scoring after just four minutes and then set up Jessie Fleming, Fran Kirby, Niamh Charles, and Sam Kerr, with Fleming and Kirby both scoring braces. Bethany England added the eighth goal in the 75th minute. Despite the heavy defeat, Leicester remained positive and forced saves from Chelsea goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger in the second half.
Elsewhere, Manchester United moved second with a 5-0 win over Aston Villa in front of a record home crowd of 30,196 at Old Trafford. Ona Batlle scored a stunning goal from a narrow angle, while Alessia Russo and Ella Toone continued their fruitful partnership. Rachel Williams added an injury-time goal to ensure United leapfrogged Arsenal on goal difference.
Arsenal secured a narrow 1-0 win over Everton, with Vivianne Miedema scoring the only goal. The return of England captain Leah Williamson and Rafaelle Souza from injury was a significant boost for the Gunners. Manchester City beat Brighton 3-1, with Chloe Kelly scoring directly from a corner, while Reading and Liverpool both won to move further clear of the relegation zone.
