Micky van de Ven has spoken out about Tottenham Hotspur's future, stating that the club has "new ambition" after a £237 million summer spending spree. The Dutch defender, linked with Liverpool, insisted the outlook is bright in north London.
Spurs narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the 2025-26 Premier League season, prompting majority owners the Lewis family to fund a major rebuild. Six new arrivals followed, including club-record signings Mateus Fernandes (£85m) and Sandro Tonali (£100m from Newcastle).
Van de Ven acknowledged that European football is the target for a club that has finished 17th two years running. "It's really good that you can see the club has made some changes," he said on Spurs' pre-season tour of Australia. "They have brought a really good new manager and some really good new signings. You can see the club has new ambition."
The centre-back also backed new manager Roberto De Zerbi, hired in March, to bring back attacking flair. "It's going to be different compared to the former manager. It's going to be more with the ball, more playing football. It's going to be more enjoyable for people to watch," Van de Ven added.
