Chelsea Manager Welcomes Idea of Behind-the-Scenes Documentary Series
Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has declared he would not obstruct his club if they ever decided to sign up for a fly-on-the-wall documentary series, similar to the one featuring their upcoming FA Cup opponents Wrexham. Rosenior views such projects as a valuable means of providing fans with the insider access they richly deserve.
Hollywood Glamour Meets Premier League Giants in FA Cup Clash
The Premier League heavyweights are determined to avoid a major upset against Championship play-off contenders Wrexham, with Rosenior fully aware that this high-profile tie is almost certain to feature prominently in the next season of the popular series Welcome To Wrexham. This fascinating encounter carries distinct Hollywood connections, pitting Chelsea's owner, the Golden Globes-acquiring Todd Boehly, against Wrexham's famous co-owners, actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, at the historic Racecourse Ground.
According to information obtained by Daily Mail Sport, the producers behind Wrexham's documentary have not formally requested permission from Chelsea to install a camera crew inside the away changing room. Instead, their focus will remain squarely on the home side, capturing manager Phil Parkinson's squad in their private domain both before and after the crucial match.
Rosenior's Conditional Approval for Documentary Cameras
However, should Chelsea ever embark on its own documentary venture, Rosenior has stated he would welcome the cameras, provided the project is collectively agreed upon and executed with proper filming and editing standards. "I think they're really good things," Rosenior commented. "I've watched them all. I'm learning. I've watched the Manchester City one, the Arsenal one. There are many documentaries out there."
He elaborated further, "They're really good for the public to see, actually, what it's really like. I'm not making an advertisement. If it was done in the right way I wouldn't be against it. But it has to be done in the correct way. I think being open to the public is good. The public spends so much money following us. Giving them access at the right time in the right way is a positive thing."
Goalkeeper Decision and Squad Updates Ahead of Wrexham Tie
Rosenior tactfully declined to reveal whether Robert Sanchez or Filip Jorgensen would start in goal for the trip to Wrexham. Sanchez was unexpectedly dropped for Wednesday's impressive 4-1 Premier League victory away at Aston Villa. The coach confirmed he has held discussions with Sanchez, who was naturally disappointed to be omitted from the starting lineup.
Addressing the situation, Rosenior stated, "If you are a player or a coach or a manager of a club the size of Chelsea, if you're worried about the noise from the outside, it's not going to work. I don't make decisions based on noise. Rob shouldn't be affected by any noise other than what's important, which is our performances."
In other team news, Rosenior emphasised he "would not swap Joao Pedro for anyone" at present, given the forward's excellent form, though he may be rested in preparation for the crucial Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain next Wednesday.
Chelsea will be including promising youngsters such as 17-year-old Ryan Kavuma-McQueen and 18-year-old Jesse Derry, the son of former player Shaun Derry, in the squad travelling to Wrexham. Rosenior is also relying on the expertise of his assistant Calum McFarlane, who previously managed the club's Under-21s side.
Meanwhile, young Brazilian talent Estevao has returned to light training following a hamstring issue. Daily Mail Sport understands he was undertaking individual work with a coach after the main squad session at Cobham on Friday. However, the 18-year-old will not be fit enough to make the journey to face Wrexham.
