Celtic defender Auston Trusty has paid an emotional tribute to his father following his passing. The centre-back will miss Thursday's Europa League match against Celta Vigo, with assistant boss Shaun Maloney confirming he was dealing with a "private matter."
Social media tribute
Trusty took to social media to share the news and express his gratitude for his father's influence on his life. In an Instagram post, he wrote: "Dad, rest in peace. I will miss you every single day. Thank you for being the world's greatest dad, my role model, and someone I will forever look up to."
He added: "48 years of marriage to Mom, 6 children, and 8 grandchildren - what an incredible life you lived, and what a beautiful legacy you leave behind. Thank you for blessing each of our lives every day. I will forever cherish your countless stories, your wisdom, kindness, happiness, and above all, your unconditional love."
Family legacy
Trusty continued: "I would never be the person I am today without you, your guidance, and your unwavering dedication to our family. You gave us everything, and I will spend my life trying to make you proud. To wear the Trusty name on the back of my shirt will forever be my greatest honour. I couldn't be prouder to be your son."
He concluded: "We will miss you more than words could ever express, but your love and legacy will live on through all of us. I love you, Dad. Until we meet again."
