Celtic have already waved goodbye to 13 players this summer, but the Parkhead clear-out is far from over. Martin O'Neill is in the midst of a major squad shake-up after the Hoops vowed to put last summer's underwhelming transfer window behind them.
Record £11-million-plus signing Kasper Hogh has arrived from Bodo/Glimt, while £6m star Camilo Duran has hit the ground running following his move from Qarabag. More new faces are expected before the transfer deadline as Celtic bid to retain the Premiership crown and secure a Champions League return.
Adam Montgomery
Montgomery is no longer in the youngster category. The 24-year-old hasn't played competitively for Celtic since Boxing Day 2021 and has spent the last five years on loan at six clubs. The versatile left-back is currently the only senior backup to Kieran Tierney and has a year left on his contract. With Celtic in the market for another left-back, Montgomery could be allowed to leave once the position is strengthened.
Paulo Bernardo
Bernardo's days in Glasgow appear numbered. The Portuguese midfielder featured fleetingly in pre-season and is well down the midfield pecking order, arguably at the bottom. Celtic paid £3.5m for him in 2024 after an impressive loan. Boss O'Neill wants to freshen up the midfield, and Bernardo looks surplus to requirements.
Reo Hatate
Hatate is understood to have informed Parkhead chiefs of his intention to move on this summer, despite having two years left on his contract. The 28-year-old has struggled to replicate his form under Ange Postecoglou and was reduced to a bit-part role last season. He has barely featured in pre-season.
Michel-Ange Balikwisha
The writing appears on the wall for Balikwisha. The £5m attacker has looked out of sorts since arriving from Standard Liege last summer. He started just three of 16 appearances under three different managers, and O'Neill has made it clear he won't stand in his way if a move materializes. The 25-year-old missed a World Cup call-up, and Parkhead chiefs may cut their losses.
Johnny Kenny
Kenny, 23, returned to Celtic with an injury after a promising loan at Bolton, where he scored six goals before a knee issue. With marquee arrivals Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran plus Callum Osmand in the ranks, Kenny's chances of forcing into O'Neill's XI seem slim. Bolton are reportedly keen to bring him back south.
