Celtic are close to completing the signing of PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joel van den Berg, with a medical scheduled for today (Monday) in Glasgow. The 19-year-old is expected to finalise a £3.5 million move and sign a four-year contract, according to The Scottish Sun.
Van den Berg's profile and form
Van den Berg has been a regular for PSV's U21 team this season, scoring twice in three appearances. He has also made six first-team appearances for the Dutch club, though none have come this season. The teenager has been a key target for Martin O'Neill during the summer window.
Interest in Crystal Palace's Devenny
Van den Berg is not the only midfielder on Celtic's radar before Thursday's 5pm deadline. The Herald reports that Celtic are among the clubs interested in a potential deal for Crystal Palace's Justin Devenny.
The 22-year-old's natural position is central midfield, but he can also play at left wing-back, a role he has filled for Northern Ireland on the international stage. Celtic are keen to strengthen their left-back options before the deadline, with Kieran Tierney currently the only option in that position.
Devenny is yet to play for Palace this season, having been left out of the squad for the opening two games. Last season he made 32 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and providing one assist. He is said to be available for around £6 million, with Middlesbrough, Southampton, Preston and Leicester City previously linked with an interest.
Celtic's summer business so far
Celtic have completed the signing of four players during the transfer window: strikers Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran, right winger Haissem Hassan, and central midfielder Mika Baur.
