Celtic advanced in talks for Ermin Mahmic deal

Celtic are aiming to seal a deal for Bosnian World Cup star Ermin Mahmic this week. The Hoops are now at an advanced stage with Slovan Liberec over a £7 million deal, with the Czech club also set to receive another potential seven figures in add-ons.

Deal details and profit for Liberec

Liberec will make a massive profit on the 21-year-old, who they signed from SV Lafnitz last year. Celtic are also confident of agreeing personal terms and a long-term deal with Mahmic. They would then need to get a GBE and work permit lined up.

The attacking midfielder has already said his goodbyes to his teammates amidst his summer move. Celtic have a number of irons in the fire on the transfer front, but landing Mahmic to fill the Arne Engels' void is the immediate priority.

Other transfer targets

Celtic also have a loan deal lined up for Chelsea left-back Landon Emenalo. He had a medical last week which flagged a minor injury, however both clubs are hoping the deal can be progressed this week.

Celtic are also likely to substantially boost their finances by qualifying for the Champions League. They head to Austria for the second leg of their play-off with a 3-0 advantage over LASK. Martin O'Neill's side are expected to finish the job and unlock the riches of the Champions League group stages.

Further squad reinforcements

Celtic are also keen to add a goalkeeper with Blackburn's Balazs Toth amongst their top targets. The Hungarian is in the final year of his contract and the Ewood Park club expect to sell him before the close of the window.

Celtic also want to strengthen their midfield further with Hajduk Split's Niko Sigur high on their list. The Canadian international can play in midfield or as a right-back. Sigur could fill the void left by his fellow Canadian international Alistair Johnston, who is currently out injured.

Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis is another on their radar. A move on that front could well depend on Reo Hatate's future. Record Sport revealed that Panathinaikos were amongst the clubs who are keen on the Japan star. He wants to leave but would prefer a move to a top five league.

Celtic are also keen to add more quality on the width. They are long-term admirers of Frosinone's Fares Ghedjemis and have recently been linked with Girona's Colombian Yaser Asprilla.
