Outgoing Manchester United star Casemiro will leave the club this summer with a heavy heart. The Brazilian midfielder and his wife, Anna Mariana, have spoken about their love for United since his arrival in 2022. The 34-year-old is set to depart when his contract expires, having joined from Real Madrid in a deal worth up to £70 million.
Casemiro admitted his wife cried when United fans sang 'one more year' during a 3-1 win against Aston Villa. 'My wife already cried, the other day, when the fans were asking for one more year,' he said. 'So, I just want to enjoy it, enjoy all the moments and I will be a United fan for the rest of my life.'
The midfielder endured a tough period under former boss Erik ten Hag, notably being hauled off at half-time in a 3-0 defeat to Liverpool in September 2024. His performance was slammed by pundits, including United great Roy Keane, who fumed on Sky Sports: 'Mistakes from Casemiro for all his experience. They are all over the place.'
Anna Mariana hit back at the criticism by posting a photo of Casemiro's trophy cabinet on Instagram, showcasing his five Champions League and three La Liga titles. She has often rushed to her husband's defence over the years.
Casemiro revealed that his habit of rewatching his performances three or four times 'annoys' his wife. 'My wife gets a bit annoyed, as there is only football on at home!' he said. 'Football is my passion, it's my soul and I believe that's been the key to my success.'
