Carragher: Chelsea must fix goalkeeper issue to challenge for titles

Jamie Carragher has insisted Chelsea will not win another Premier League or Champions League until they address their goalkeeping problems following the 5-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Filip Jorgensen was at fault for PSG’s third goal when his pass was intercepted, allowing Vitinha to lob the ball into the net. The result leaves Chelsea with a mountain to climb in the second leg at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking after the match, Carragher praised Liam Rosenior’s tactical approach but criticised the defensive lapses. “They were let down by a mistake from the goalkeeper at 2-2 and then the game completely unravelled,” he told CBS Sports.

The former Liverpool defender added: “Big mistakes cost them at centre-back and goalkeeper and that has been an issue and will continue to be an issue for any Chelsea manager going forward. They’re a million miles off winning the Premier League or Champions League.”

Carragher noted Chelsea’s attacking quality and Rosenior’s setup caused PSG problems, but the defensive errors proved costly. The Blues now trail 5-2 on aggregate ahead of next week’s return leg.
