Jack Grealish faces a pivotal summer as reports suggest incoming Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca wants to revive the winger's career at the Etihad, while a loan move to Everton remains a possibility. The 29-year-old, who became the first £100 million English footballer when he joined City from Aston Villa in 2021, has struggled for game time under Pep Guardiola and was left out of the Club World Cup squad last year.
According to a report by Jeremy Cross in the Mirror, Maresca—expected to replace Guardiola after his decade-long tenure—plans to hold talks with Grealish about a potential revival. This comes after Guardiola reportedly told Grealish to find a new team, leading to interest from Everton, who were installed as bookmakers' favourites to land the Brummie ace in June 2025.
Former Everton captain Alan Stubbs publicly campaigned for Grealish's move, telling the ECHO: "I think Jack Grealish needs loving again... I think we could see the best of him." Stubbs even had a chance encounter with Grealish in Marbella, where he tried to persuade him to join Everton. Additionally, Everton manager David Moyes took Grealish out to dinner to outline his plans for the player.
Grealish's loan move to Everton was confirmed on August 12, 2025, with the player stating: "As soon as I spoke to the manager, I knew there was only one place that I wanted to go." He made his debut as a substitute in a 1-0 defeat to a newly promoted side. However, with Maresca's potential arrival, a second chance at City could alter Grealish's trajectory.
