Cameron Menzies Announces New Relationship Following Fallon Sherrock Breakup
Darts star Cameron Menzies has taken to social media to publicly announce his new romantic relationship, marking a fresh chapter after his split from fellow professional player Fallon Sherrock. The 36-year-old Scotsman, who has nearly 17,000 followers on Instagram, shared photos this week of himself embracing and kissing his new girlfriend, Suzanne Lewis.
From Heartbreak to Happiness
Menzies had been in a four-year relationship with Sherrock, often referred to as the 'Queen of the Palace', but their romance ended last summer. In a recent Instagram post, Suzanne Lewis shared a picture of the couple with the caption: "Thankful for you @cameron.menzies.7," accompanied by heart emojis and kisses. Menzies reposted this, confirming their relationship to his fans and followers.
A Turbulent Period and Career Challenges
This newfound happiness in his private life comes after an immensely difficult period for the former plumber. In January, at the PDC World Darts Championship, Menzies suffered a shocking first-round elimination by Charlie Manby. Moments after his defeat, in a fit of frustration, he repeatedly punched a table, leaving his hand bloodied and causing severe injuries.
The incident has led to long-term issues, with Menzies admitting in a recent interview with Oche 180 that he has considered giving up the sport. "I'll be honest with you, a few times I've felt like wrapping it [up]," he said. "I'm just not in a good place that way. Obviously what happened at the Worlds, I've done a lot of damage to myself. Basically I've no feeling in my fingers anymore because of the damage I've done."
Recovery and Personal Struggles
Menzies revealed that he couldn't feel his fingers for six weeks, underwent surgery, and still requires hand treatment and trauma care. "I've made a massive mistake in my life," he admitted. "You can see the scar. I have to live with that. I was lucky it was not as bad as what it could have been. I'm not proud of it."
He also opened up about the impact of personal loss, apologising for his actions after the match and citing the recent death of his uncle Gary as a factor affecting his mental state. "It’s not an excuse, but I have had a lot of things on my mind recently and I suppose it all just became too much at the end," Menzies wrote. "He treated me like a son."
Health and Future Prospects
Alongside recovering from his hand injury, Menzies has been focusing on his health, having lost three stone in weight. This effort is particularly important as he suffers from an ectopic heartbeat and high blood pressure. Despite the challenges, he expressed gratitude for still having a career in darts, acknowledging his luck in the aftermath of the incident.
As Menzies navigates his recovery and new relationship, fans are hopeful that this positive turn will bolster his spirits and performance in the sport. His journey highlights the personal struggles athletes often face behind the scenes, balancing professional pressures with private life upheavals.
