Burnley manager Scott Parker hailed Ashley Barnes as an 'incredible example' after the veteran striker scored twice in a comprehensive 5-1 FA Cup third-round victory over Millwall at Turf Moor.
The 36-year-old was joined on the scoresheet by Loum Tchaouna, Jaidon Anthony and Jaydon Banel, with substitute Josh Coburn grabbing a late consolation for the visitors.
Parker, who made eight changes from the side that drew 2-2 with Manchester United in midweek, praised Barnes not only for his performance but for his tireless work behind the scenes as Burnley battle for Premier League survival.
'I'm so pleased for Ash because he's an experienced guy and at this present moment, when we're having a bit of a tough time, the help he gives me and the coaches and this young squad, he's a really positive guy,' Parker said.
Millwall boss Alex Neil admitted his side deserved nothing from the game after a series of defensive errors. Neil made seven changes from the side that beat Swansea, leaving key players at home to prioritise the Championship play-off push.
'The biggest difference was how clinical Burnley are in the final third, versus how clinical we were, certainly in the first half,' Neil said.
