Bruno Fernandes scored a hat-trick as Manchester United came from behind to secure an emphatic 5-2 win at home to Ipswich Town.
United recover from early setback
The hosts went behind in the first half after Leif Davis’ impressive volleyed opener, but Fernandes had his side level and added a further pair of goals in the second half to ensure United moved on from last week’s defeat at Hull.
Controversial own goal and late flourish
Fernandes’ treble came on either side of a controversial own-goal as Harry Maguire appeared to handle the ball before seeing a shot deflect in off Jacob Greaves. The Portuguese capped off his fine performance with an assist, too, as he played Bryan Mbeumo in behind to lob Kjell Scherpen and score a fifth of the day, leaving Chuba Akpom’s injury-time tap-in as scant consolation.
