Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo has decided he wants to join Manchester United this summer, despite strong interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle, according to reports.
The 25-year-old enjoyed an outstanding Premier League season, scoring 20 goals and providing seven assists, with only Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak and Mohamed Salah outperforming him in front of goal.
United have already agreed a £62.5m deal for Wolves' Matheus Cunha and are now expected to focus on reaching an agreement with Brentford, who are likely to demand around £60m for the Cameroon international. Mbeumo has just 12 months left on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Brentford head coach Thomas Frank admitted the club may be powerless to prevent a departure. 'I would like to keep him but we are a selling club, so if someone comes in with the right price,' Frank said.
Midfielder Christian Nørgaard also indicated Mbeumo's exit is probable. 'I think Bryan is likely to go,' Nørgaard told Sky Sports. 'Either way, I'm happy for him; he deserves it so much.'
