Brentford have officially completed the signing of winger Jaidon Anthony from Burnley in a deal that could reach £17 million including add-ons. The 26-year-old has committed to a four-year contract with the Bees, with the club holding an option for an additional year.
Anthony becomes Brentford's second summer signing, following the arrival of Austrian centre-back Jannik Schuster. The winger scored eight goals in 37 Premier League appearances last season for a Burnley side that ultimately suffered relegation to the Championship.
Return to London
Anthony returns to the capital after beginning his career at Arsenal's academy before moving to Bournemouth's youth setup in 2016. He has accumulated 70 Premier League appearances across spells with Bournemouth and Burnley, netting 11 goals and providing five assists.
At Brentford, Anthony will provide competition for Kevin Schade on the left wing and bolster the frontline following the departure of Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson at the end of last season. The Bees remain active in the transfer market for attacking reinforcements and are reportedly close to securing a deal for veteran striker Callum Wilson.
Manager's Praise
Head coach Keith Andrews expressed his delight at the signing, stating: "We’re delighted to be able to sign Jaidon. We’ve been aware of Jaidon’s journey for a long, long time and have always admired him from afar. He did really well last season, which is difficult in a team that got relegated. After meeting him, it became very evident that he’d fit into the culture of the club and add to the squad. He still has so much more room for growth and improvement, and we’re really looking forward to working with him."
