WWE legend Booker T has reflected on the controversial 2015 racism scandal involving Hulk Hogan, describing it as one of the most challenging moments in wrestling history.
In an exclusive interview, the two-time Hall of Famer revealed how Hogan's leaked racist remarks created shockwaves throughout the WWE universe. 'It was a dark time for the company,' Booker T admitted. 'We had to regroup and show the world what WWE really stands for.'
The Scandal That Shook Wrestling
The controversy erupted when audio surfaced of Hogan using racial slurs during a private conversation. The fallout was immediate - WWE severed ties with their most iconic superstar, removing all references to Hogan from their programming and Hall of Fame.
'When something like that happens, it affects everybody,' Booker T explained. 'But we're a family in this business, and families work through tough situations.'
Moving Forward
Booker T praised WWE's handling of the sensitive situation, noting how the organization used it as an opportunity to reinforce its commitment to diversity. 'We've come a long way since then,' he said. 'The locker room today reflects the world we perform for.'
The wrestling icon also discussed Hogan's eventual return to WWE in 2018, suggesting that forgiveness and growth are possible. 'People deserve second chances when they show genuine change,' Booker T remarked.
