World bodybuilding champion Jason Lowe has died at the age of 38. His wife, Ashley, confirmed the news in a heartfelt social media post, sharing a series of photographs from their time together.
Lowe, nicknamed 'Broku', was known for his impressive physique and competed in numerous events between 2015 and 2022, according to the National Physique Committee. He twice appeared at the Mr Olympia competition, finishing 16th in the Men's Classic Division on debut and 11th in the 212 division the following year. He also placed seventh in the Men's Classic Physique at the Arnold Classic on two occasions.
The circumstances of his death have not been officially confirmed. Retired bodybuilder Dave Palumbo, former editor of Muscular Development Magazine, said Lowe collapsed while training a client in his garage gym. Palumbo told the Rx Muscle YouTube channel: "It is with a heavy heart that I have to report that IFBB Pro Jason Lowe has passed. The information I've had is that he was training in his gym in his garage, training a client, when he dropped." He added that no autopsy had been performed and that speculating on a cause would be foolish, though rumours of blood clots had circulated.
In her tribute, Ashley wrote: "Today will be the hardest day of my life. I don’t know if words will ever be enough to hold what you meant to me, because they all feel so small in comparison. You made me a better version of myself, and you were going to be the absolute best dad. Saying that I’m devastated doesn’t even begin to touch the depth of this loss."
Lowe, who had more than 104,000 followers on Instagram, was also remembered by WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash, who said: "He was so kind, humble. I won’t forget my friend." A GoFundMe page has been set up by a family friend to support Lowe's wife.
