Blackburn vs Ipswich Called Off Due to Waterlogged Pitch

Blackburn Rovers' Championship match against Ipswich Town was abandoned on Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch, with the hosts leading 1-0. This is the second time this season that a Blackburn home game has been called off for the same reason, following a similar abandonment against Sheffield Wednesday in November.

Yuki Ohashi had given Blackburn the lead in the 33rd minute with his fifth goal of the campaign. However, persistent rain caused the pitch to become unplayable, and referee Ruebyn Ricardo halted play on the hour mark for a 10-minute delay while ground staff attempted to remove surface water. After a further inspection, the official had no choice but to abandon the match.

The abandonment sparked renewed protests from Blackburn supporters against the club's owners, Venky's, with chants calling for their departure. Blackburn remain four points above the relegation zone. Ipswich, meanwhile, were left frustrated as they had been in a strong position, but the result was declared void.
