Blackpool Pleasure Beach has been named the best theme park in the UK, according to a new study. The seaside attraction ranked sixth globally in AttractionTickets' Banish Boredom Index, which analysed hundreds of thousands of reviews to identify destinations least likely to leave children bored.
The top three spots were claimed by Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Universal Orlando Resort and Disneyland Paris. Theme parks dominated the top ten, with museum and heritage holidays holding their own, while beach and garden getaways ranked lowest.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach is set to open a new ride, Aviktas, later this month. The 138ft gyro swing will carry 40 riders 120 degrees into the air, offering coastal views. The park already features numerous rollercoasters and water rides, which were found to be the ultimate crowd-pleasers for youngsters.
Other UK attractions on the list include Diggerland, the Tower of London, Alton Towers, The Milky Way Adventure Park, Drayton Manor, Peppa Pig World and Warner Bros Studio Tour.
Oliver Brendon, CEO of AttractionTickets, said: “The results are clear – the best family holidays are the ones where children are immersed in the experience from start to finish.” He added that Blackpool Pleasure Beach proves the UK can deliver excitement comparable to global destinations.
Amanda Thompson OBE, CEO of Pleasure Beach Resort, said: “We've been entertaining families for 130 years. With the opening of Aviktas, we're ready to captivate generations to come.” The park was also named the highest-rated theme park in the UK in Tripadvisor's 2026 Travellers' Choice Awards.
