The clause allows Son to join a European side on loan during the MLS off-season, which begins after the final series concludes. This means he could potentially play in Europe while the MLS season is paused, similar to Beckham's loan at AC Milan and Thierry Henry's return to Arsenal.
Son has made a bright start in the United States, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in nine appearances. Speaking after his move, he admitted it was not his first choice but said he was won over by LAFC's vision.
Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino backed Son to make a big impact in MLS, calling him 'one of the most important players' during his time at Spurs. LAFC have already secured a spot in the MLS final series after winning 17 of their 33 league games this season.
