Celta Vigo are leading the race to sign Altay Bayindir from Manchester United, with the La Liga side working on a season-long loan for the goalkeeper. But other clubs are still interested in the 28-year-old, including one side who want to sign the Turkey international on a permanent transfer.
Bayindir is keen to leave Old Trafford to play first-team football and his role as No.2 goalkeeper has already been taken by Karl Darlow, who has joined United on a free transfer.
Stockholm squad
United have a surfeit of goalkeepers this summer. First-choice Senne Lammens only returned to Carrington on Thursday and Darlow is yet to train after a minor operation at the end of last season, but they still took four goalkeepers to Stockholm for Saturday's friendly with Atletico Madrid.
Bayindir did a prolonged training session on the Strawberry Arena pitch an hour-and-a-half before kick-off. When Tom Heaton, Radek Vitek and Dermot Mee came out to warm up, Bayindir soon went back into the dressing room. He then sat behind the bench during the first half and was never due to be involved in the game.
Bayindir's United career
United signed Bayindir for £4.3million in the summer of 2023 to be No.2 to Andre Onana. He has made 17 appearances for the club in all competitions but has become frustrated at a lack of first-team opportunities.
Vitek also set to leave
Vitek is also due to leave the club this summer, with United open to selling the 22-year-old, who enjoyed an outstanding season on loan with Bristol City in the Championship last term.
