Bradley Barcola underwent an individual training session at Liverpool's AXA Training Centre on Thursday, while Victor Munoz was absent as the Reds prepared for Sunday's Premier League clash with Brighton.
Munoz, who missed Tuesday's 4-3 Champions League win over Villarreal at Anfield due to a minor knee injury, took no part in the session. Head coach Andoni Iraola is expected to provide an update on the Spain international winger's fitness when he speaks to the media on Friday afternoon to preview the match against the Seagulls.
Barcola's Workload Management
Barcola trained away from his teammates, working on an individually-tailored programme following a heavy workload over the past fortnight. The France international, whose protracted £123m move from Paris Saint-Germain disrupted his pre-season, played 250 of a possible 270 minutes in matches against Manchester City, LASK and Brentford across six days.
As a result, the 23-year-old featured for only the final 16 minutes on Tuesday night as Liverpool beat Villarreal. His solo session on Thursday was described as a precaution as the Reds stepped up their preparations.
Other Absentees
Dominik Szoboszlai also missed the session as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury. The Hungary captain rushed back too soon after picking up the issue on international duty earlier this month and was forced off in the first half of Saturday's win over Brentford.
Iraola confirmed on Monday that Szoboszlai's issue was not expected to be a lengthy one, but he is likely to sit out Sunday's visit from Fabian Hurzeler's side. Jeremie Frimpong will also be absent after sustaining a muscle injury against Brentford, joining long-term absentees Hugo Ekitike, Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley on the sidelines.
Iraola is expected to offer updates on both Barcola and Munoz when he speaks to the media on Friday afternoon at the club's £50m training base in Kirkby.
