Arteta Declares Title Run-In Underway After Arsenal's Crucial Win Over Chelsea
Arteta: Title Run-In Started as Arsenal Beat Chelsea

Mikel Arteta has delivered a frank evaluation of the Premier League title battle, asserting that the critical run-in has commenced following Arsenal's pivotal 2-1 triumph over London rivals Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.

Arsenal Reclaim Five-Point Advantage

The Gunners' victory reinstated their five-point lead at the summit of the table, although they have played one more match than closest challengers Manchester City. With nine fixtures remaining in the season, Arteta emphasised that the intense pressure to secure consecutive wins has been a persistent reality for his squad.

In an interview with Sky Sports, the Arsenal manager stated: "We had that feeling for a long time [the run-in has started]. That feeling when you have to continue to win and win and win. You win so many games and it is not enough to open the gap. That is the beauty of this league."

Match Highlights and Arteta's Analysis

William Saliba opened the scoring for Arsenal, but a Piero Hincapie own goal levelled the contest just before halftime. Jurrien Timber's second-half strike ultimately secured the three points, while Chelsea's Pedro Neto received a red card, compounding the visitors' difficulties.

Arteta praised his team's performance but expressed disappointment that the margin of victory was not more commanding. He remarked: "Big win, I'm very happy. For big periods the team performed in an excellent way, the margin should have been bigger at half-time. The moment we conceded was painful, but the quality of Chelsea..."

He further analysed: "After their red card we should have managed that situation better but we will talk about this tomorrow. They have so much quality, even when they use the keeper they can get out of situation with 10 men. We didn't adjust too well, sometimes you take things for granted. Something to improve there."

Arteta's Respect for Chelsea's Quality

The Arsenal boss acknowledged the formidable threat posed by Chelsea, highlighting specific players' abilities. He noted: "They [Chelsea] have players who can occupy various spaces - Cole [Palmer] can play false nine and occupy these spaces, he needs just one square metre to turn and activate players. they have quality, big personalities, they are really well coached. They are so good a turning in tight spaces, Caicedo, Enzo [Fernandez], Cole. It's impressive, they are a top side."

Set-Piece Prowess Proves Decisive

Arsenal's success was partly attributed to their exceptional set-piece execution, with both Saliba and Timber scoring from corners. This season, the Gunners have netted a record 16 goals from corners, underscoring their tactical proficiency.

When questioned about what distinguishes Arsenal in set-piece scenarios, Arteta explained: "Like anybody else. Attacking and defending. You know exactly what they are going to do but they do it that well it is an absolute nightmare to defend against."

As the title race intensifies, Arteta's candid assessment signals Arsenal's readiness to navigate the final stretch, with every match now carrying heightened significance in their pursuit of Premier League glory.
