Max Dowman, the Arsenal teenager who became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history last weekend, will have his career managed by his father and brother after they obtained Fifa agent licences. The family has received numerous approaches from agents since Dowman made his debut at age 15 in August, but they have decided against signing with a major agency.
Dowman, now 16, signed a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal in January that will convert to a professional contract when he turns 17 on 31 December. The negotiations were handled by Onside Law, a sports law firm, but Rob and Ethan Dowman are now qualified to represent the winger in future contract talks.
Rob Dowman, a grassroots coach, is also founder and CEO of insurance company Pantheon Speciality. His elder son Ethan holds an economics degree from Nottingham University and works as a broker. Both passed the Fifa agent exams, which had a 52% pass rate in the first round.
Dowman's immediate focus is on his development at Arsenal and achieving good GCSE results. He has signed a boot deal with Adidas and appeared in an advert with Ian Wright, but the family is in no rush to pursue further commercial deals.
