Arsenal remain active in the transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to improve his squad. The Premier League champions are recruiting from a position of strength and have made a couple of notable moves already this summer.
Guimaraes and Tzolis join
Bruno Guimaraes has completed his £75million move from Newcastle United. The Brazilian was a key player for the Magpies and will help bolster the Gunners' midfield, with the 28-year-old eager to win silverware at his new club.
"I want to win trophies, I want to make history, and I think I'm in the right place to do it," he told the club's website. "I'm so excited to start. We have tough games to play this season, so the squad is going to be very, very important and I'm hopeful we can achieve our dreams."
Guimaraes joins winger Christos Tzolis as the Gunners' major new signings so far this summer. However, Arsenal have also been linked with fresh moves for Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz and Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez.
£85m Yildiz move back on the agenda
Arsenal are reportedly considering reigniting their pursuit of Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz. The Gunners are searching for wide targets after missing out on a move for Vinicius Junior, who has agreed a new six-year deal with Real Madrid.
The Times reports that the Gunners are contemplating renewing their interest in Yildiz after making an initial enquiry earlier this summer. The 21-year-old is claimed to have been monitored by Arsenal since last term.
However, Juventus reportedly do not wish to sell the Turkey international, whose contract runs until 2030. The Metro adds that the Italian giants demanded around £85m for Yildiz when Arsenal and other Premier League sides showed interest a year ago.
Yildiz has been with Juventus since joining from Bayern Munich's academy in 2022. He scored 11 goals in 47 games across all competitions last season.
Alvarez transfer update issued
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has reiterated the club's stance on Julian Alvarez's future. Arsenal have been linked with a high-profile move for the Argentina international throughout the summer.
Alvarez has previously expressed his desire to leave Atletico this summer, with Barcelona reportedly his preferred destination. However, his manager has emphasised that the situation is unchanged and Atletico are not looking to sell Alvarez.
"The situation is very clear, the club made a decision that Miguel Angel Gil Marin [Atletico's CEO] explained very well," Simeone said. "We are very happy with Julian, from a sporting perspective, we're very happy to have a player like Julian, and we'll help him continue to grow and improve."
