Arsenal target Nusa as Arteta urged to move on from Gyokeres

Arsenal are reportedly showing a 'serious interest' in RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa, who is valued at £58million, according to reports in Italy. Tutto Mercato claims the Gunners are confident they could land his services, with Roma also reportedly interested in the 21-year-old, who already has 10 goal contributions in 12 appearances this season.

Rival striker Erling Haaland has previously praised Nusa, calling him "something extraordinary." Following a 4-1 win over Slovenia in 2024, in which Nusa scored a brace and Haaland also found the net, the Norway international and Manchester City star said: "He's something extraordinary. He's delivering at a high level, he's a great talent and he simply has to keep going."

Arteta Urged to Move On from Gyokeres

Micah Richards has urged Arteta to "move on" from Viktor Gyokeres and search for a replacement in January. The Swede has scored just once in 11 appearances this season and looks to be cutting a frustrated figure in front of goal.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Richards believes the 28-year-old should leave Arsenal to allow "top cover" to arrive in the next transfer window. He said: "I think one of the major talking points as well is Gyokeres. When he first arrived at Arsenal, I was saying to the Arsenal fans, 'Don't expect him to be scoring 25 and 30 goals.'"

Richards continued: "What I really liked about him, he was good at running in behind, but he stopped doing the things that he's really good at. He sort of looks like he has no confidence. I don't know if the reports in the summer that they tried to get rid of him [were true] or not, but essentially he's had enough game time to show what he can do now at Arsenal and it's just not happening for him."

Need for Firepower

Richards added: "I think in January, because of the injuries, I definitely think they should go back into the market, and find top cover around." He noted that the reason Arsenal are so good is what the front players do off the ball, and that losing Trossard was a big miss in terms of his work off the ball and clinical finishing.

"I think if they want to compete and then, say, dominate, then 100 per cent, I think they need more firepower in that forward area, for sure," Richards said. "There are so many times where Gyokeres gets in really good positions, and I don't know if he doesn't back himself, I don't know if it's confidence, I don't know if the team doesn't back him to score, but he just, he doesn't put the ball away. So, then it becomes a problem. And I just feel like he needs one of those opportunities where he plays 90 minutes, he scores, he builds confidence, and it goes from there. Otherwise, you know, they're going to have to look to move him on."
