Arsenal Face Blow as Fiorentina Move to Triple Kayode's Wages

Arsenal's pursuit of Fiorentina right-back Michael Kayode has hit a potential setback, with the Serie A club reportedly planning to triple the teenager's wages and offer him a new long-term contract. The 19-year-old has impressed in his debut season, attracting interest from several top European sides.

Former coach Carlo Caramelli confirmed the Gunners' interest in an interview with SportItalia, stating: 'Yes, I heard it too. I heard [scout Andrea] Ritorni and I said to him jokingly: “But which Arsenal? Mike must stay at Fiorentina”.' Caramelli added that German clubs had also made moves last year.

According to Corriere Fiorentino, Kayode's agent Claudio Vigorelli has a meeting scheduled to agree a new deal that would increase his salary to nearly £870,000-a-year, alongside assurances of more first-team football. Fiorentina aim to fend off interest from Arsenal, who are seeking additional right-back cover following Jurrien Timber's long-term injury.
