Manchester City Keep Title Hopes Alive with Dramatic Comeback at Liverpool

Manchester City staged a stunning late comeback to beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield, keeping their Premier League title hopes alive. Dominik Szoboszlai had put Liverpool ahead with a brilliant free-kick in the second half, but City responded with goals from Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland to snatch victory.

The match looked set to take a familiar turn for City when Szoboszlai curled a 30-yard free-kick past goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the second half. It was a goal worthy of winning any game, but City refused to surrender. With six minutes remaining, Silva equalised after a deflected cross found Haaland, who headed through for the Portuguese to lash home.

Deep into stoppage time, Matheus Nunes was fouled by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, and Haaland coolly converted the penalty to complete the turnaround. The win was City's second at Anfield under Pep Guardiola, and their first in front of a crowd since 2003.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot expressed frustration after the match, particularly with the officiating. The game ended in chaotic scenes as Liverpool pushed for an equaliser, with Alisson coming up for a corner. City broke, and substitute Rayan Cherki rolled a shot towards the empty net from halfway, but Szoboszlai fouled Haaland outside the area. After a VAR review, Szoboszlai was sent off, and the goal was disallowed.

The result cuts the gap to leaders Arsenal to six points, keeping City in the title race. Guardiola praised his team's character, while Slot lamented his side's slow start. City now turn their attention to their next league fixture against Sunderland.
