Noni Madueke is a doubt for Arsenal's crucial Premier League meeting with Manchester City after he limped off with a knee injury during the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Sporting CP. The winger went down midway through the second half and was unable to continue, being substituted by 16-year-old Max Dowman.
Madueke was seen hobbling down the tunnel with the assistance of Arsenal's medical staff after spending several minutes in the dugout. His potential absence compounds Mikel Arteta's problems, with Bukayo Saka already sidelined by an Achilles issue picked up before the international break.
Arteta confirmed Saka's injury was a long-standing problem, saying: 'It was something that he was carrying for a while. It was an Achilles issue.' The Gunners were already without Jurrien Timber, Martin Odegaard and Riccardo Calafiori for the goalless draw that secured Arsenal's place in the semi-finals against Atletico Madrid.
Should both Madueke and Saka miss the visit of Pep Guardiola's side, Arteta could turn to Dowman, who made his European debut in the second leg. Alternatively, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli or Gabriel Jesus – who previously played on the right under Arteta at Manchester City – could fill the role.
