Arsenal moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Burnley at the Emirates Stadium, putting them on the verge of a first title in 22 years. Kai Havertz headed the only goal from a corner in the 36th minute, his 18th league goal of the season from set pieces.
The win leaves Mikel Arteta's side needing Manchester City to drop points at Bournemouth on Tuesday to secure the title with a game to spare. City trail by five points but have a match in hand. Arsenal have won four consecutive league matches since a 2-1 defeat at City on April 19, keeping clean sheets in each.
Havertz was fortunate to avoid a red card in the 65th minute for a high challenge on Lesley Ugochukwu, with VAR declining to intervene. Burnley's Eberechi Eze hit the crossbar in the second half, but David Raya remained largely untested as Arsenal held on.
Bukayo Saka provided the assist for Havertz's goal, his 50th in the Premier League for Arsenal, joining Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas and Mesut Ozil as the only players to reach that milestone for the club. The Gunners now face Crystal Palace away before a Champions League final against Paris St Germain on May 30.
